Overview
Stimufend OBI (pegfilgrastim-fpgk) is a biosimilar of Neulasta (pegfilgrastim) developed by Fresenius Kabi USA. It is a pegylated recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) receptor agonist. The drug works by binding to the G-CSF receptor on hematopoietic cells, stimulating the proliferation, differentiation, and activation of neutrophils. This specific formulation utilizes an on-body injector (OBI) for subcutaneous administration, designed to provide a more convenient delivery method compared to traditional prefilled syringes. It is indicated to decrease the incidence of infection, manifested by febrile neutropenia, in patients with non-myeloid malignancies receiving myelosuppressive anti-cancer drugs associated with chemotherapy-induced neutropenia.
