Drug intelligence / Profile preview
STIMULAN VG is a drug-device combination consisting of a fully synthetic, absorbable calcium sulfate matrix pre-mixed with the antibiotics vancomycin and gentamicin. It is designed as a local antibiotic delivery system for use in bone and soft tissue infection management. The product acts as an antibiotic carrier, delivering high concentrations of vancomycin (a glycopeptide) and gentamicin (an aminoglycoside) directly to the site of infection, such as musculoskeletal defects or wounds associated with diabetic foot osteomyelitis or stage IV pressure ulcers. The calcium sulfate matrix gradually dissolves over 30–60 days, releasing the antibiotics locally while minimizing systemic exposure. This approach aims to improve infection control, reduce recurrence rates, and minimize systemic antibiotic use[2][3][4].
