STM-001

STM-001 is an investigational **small-molecule, retargeted glycopeptide antibiotic** consisting of vancomycin-arginine, a modified form of vancomycin designed to treat **complicated urinary tract infections** caused by **multidrug-resistant Escherichia coli** while sparing carbapenem use. The program has been described as active against MDR *E. coli* strains expressing ESBLs and carbapenemases including CTX-M-15 and NDM-1, with preclinical murine studies showing reduction of bacterial burden in kidney, bladder, and urine and high recovery of intact drug in urine after intravenous dosing. Its mechanism is based on converting vancomycin into a Gram-negative targeted antibacterial candidate intended for cUTI, with proposed low humanized doses in the 1-5 mg/kg range.
