Overview

STM-006 is a first-in-class, potent, and selective small molecule inhibitor of METTL3 (Methyltransferase-like 3), an enzyme that plays a critical role in the N6-methyladenosine (m6A) RNA methylation process. Developed by Storm Therapeutics, STM-006 is designed to inhibit the catalytic activity of METTL3, thereby modulating the epitranscriptomic landscape of cancer cells. By reducing m6A levels on specific oncogenic mRNAs, the drug disrupts their stability and translation, leading to anti-leukemic effects such as growth inhibition and induction of differentiation. STM-006 is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial for the treatment of patients with relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and other myeloid malignancies, representing the first METTL3 inhibitor to enter clinical development.
