Overview

STN1010904 is an investigational ophthalmic suspension of sirolimus, a small molecule mTOR inhibitor, being developed by Santen in collaboration with ActualEyes for the treatment of Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy (FECD). The drug works by suppressing corneal endothelial cell apoptosis, thereby decelerating the progression of the disease. It is currently being evaluated in the Phase 2a PHANTOM study, which tests 0.03% and 0.1% concentrations administered twice daily. FECD is a degenerative condition of the corneal endothelium that currently lacks pharmacological treatments and often necessitates corneal transplantation. STN1010904 represents a potential first-in-class pharmaceutical therapy for this condition.
