Drug intelligence / Profile preview
STN1013600 is an ophthalmic solution of ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) developed by Santen for the treatment of presbyopia. Unlike traditional presbyopia treatments that utilize miotics to constrict the pupil, STN1013600 is designed as a "lens softener." Its mechanism of action aims to restore the elasticity of the crystalline lens, addressing the underlying age-related stiffening that causes near-vision impairment. The drug was evaluated in the Phase IIa OPSIS clinical trial (NCT05665387) at concentrations of 0.1% and 0.3% administered twice daily. However, in 2024, Santen discontinued the development of STN1013600 following a review of the trial data.
