Drug intelligence / Profile preview
STOMACID is an oral antacid combination product developed and manufactured by Ambee Pharmaceuticals. It contains a well-balanced mixture of aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide, which function as non-systemic small molecule agents that chemically neutralize gastric acid in the stomach. Aluminum hydroxide acts as a slow-acting antacid with a prolonged effect, while magnesium hydroxide provides a relatively faster but sustained acid-neutralizing property. Together, they increase gastric pH to provide symptomatic relief from hyperacidity, heartburn, and dyspepsia. Additionally, both components possess adsorbent properties that can form a protective coating over ulcer surfaces, aiding in the management of peptic ulcers and gastritis without causing significant acid rebound or bowel disturbances like constipation or diarrhea.
