STP136G is a preclinical-stage small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic developed by Sirnaomics for the treatment of hypertension. The drug utilizes Sirnaomics' proprietary GalAhead (mXRNA) delivery platform, which employs GalNAc conjugation to facilitate targeted delivery to hepatocytes following subcutaneous administration. Once in the liver, STP136G mediates the silencing of angiotensinogen (AGT) mRNA. As AGT is the sole precursor of all angiotensin peptides within the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), its downregulation leads to a sustained reduction in blood pressure. This approach aims to provide a long-acting therapeutic effect, potentially improving patient compliance compared to daily oral antihypertensive regimens.
