Overview

STP165G is an investigational small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic developed by Sirnaomics for the treatment of hypertension. It targets the messenger RNA (mRNA) of angiotensinogen (AGT), a precursor protein in the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) that is primarily synthesized in the liver. The drug utilizes Sirnaomics' proprietary GalNAc (N-acetylgalactosamine) delivery platform, which facilitates targeted uptake by hepatocytes via the asialoglycoprotein receptor (ASGPR). Once inside the cell, the siRNA triggers the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to degrade AGT mRNA, thereby reducing the production of angiotensinogen and subsequently lowering blood pressure. This approach aims to provide a long-acting treatment option for patients with hypertension, potentially improving adherence compared to daily oral medications.
