Drug intelligence / Profile preview
STRA6-targeted shRNA is a short hairpin RNA (shRNA) therapeutic designed to silence the expression of stimulated by retinoic acid 6 (STRA6), a cell-surface receptor for retinol-binding protein. Developed by researchers at the Asan Medical Center and the University of Ulsan College of Medicine, this RNA interference therapy specifically targets STRA6, which is highly upregulated in tumor-supportive cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) within the pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) microenvironment. By knocking down STRA6 expression, the therapy inhibits CAF-mediated tumor progression, overcomes stromal-driven chemoresistance, and synergizes with gemcitabine to achieve durable tumor regression and prevent rapid recurrence.
