Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Strepsils Max Plus is a pharmaceutical combination drug formulated as a lozenge for oral administration, primarily indicated for the symptomatic relief of mouth and throat infections, including severe sore throat. It contains three active ingredients: amylmetacresol, 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol, and lidocaine hydrochloride. Amylmetacresol and 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol act as antiseptics, disrupting microbial cell integrity to reduce the localized microbial load. Lidocaine hydrochloride functions as a local anesthetic, blocking voltage-gated sodium channels in sensory nerve endings to provide rapid pain relief. The drug is manufactured by various entities under the Reckitt Benckiser umbrella.
