StreptAnova is a 30-valent recombinant protein subunit vaccine designed to prevent Group A streptococcal (GAS) infections caused by *Streptococcus pyogenes*. Developed through a collaboration between the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and Dalhousie University, the vaccine targets the M protein, which is the primary virulence determinant and protective antigen on the surface of GAS. The formulation consists of four recombinant proteins that incorporate N-terminal peptides from 30 different M protein serotypes, along with the Streptococcal protective antigen (Spa). This design is intended to provide broad immunity against approximately 85% of pharyngitis and invasive GAS strains prevalent in North America and Europe. The vaccine is adjuvanted with aluminum hydroxide and has demonstrated safety and immunogenicity in Phase I clinical trials without eliciting autoimmunity.
