Streptococcus pneumoniae type 11A capsular polysaccharide diphtheria CRM197 protein conjugate antigen is a component of pneumococcal conjugate vaccines designed to protect against diseases caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae serotype 11A. The vaccine contains highly purified capsular polysaccharides from the invasive pneumococcal serotype 11A, which are chemically linked (conjugated) to CRM197, a nontoxic variant of the diphtheria toxin. This conjugation enhances immunogenicity by promoting a T-cell dependent immune response, leading to active immunization and long-term protection against infections such as pneumococcal pneumonia and bacteremia[1][2]. The primary indication is for prevention of invasive pneumococcal disease in children and adults. This component may be included in multivalent vaccines such as PCV20 (Prevnar20) or CAPVAXIVE, which target multiple S. pneumoniae serotypes including 11A[1][5].
