This is a pneumococcal conjugate vaccine component consisting of the purified capsular polysaccharide from *Streptococcus pneumoniae* serotype 23F, chemically linked to the non-toxic diphtheria toxin variant CRM197 as a carrier protein. The conjugation enhances immunogenicity by inducing a T-cell dependent immune response, resulting in improved antibody production and immunological memory compared to unconjugated polysaccharide vaccines. It is used as an active immunization agent for the prevention of invasive pneumococcal diseases such as pneumonia and bacteremia caused by *S. pneumoniae* serotype 23F, particularly in infants and young children[1][3][5]. This antigen is included in multivalent pneumococcal vaccines like Prevnar/Prevenar.
