Streptococcus salivarius DB-B5 is a probiotic bacterial strain developed by the Dabur Research Foundation for oral health applications. As a commensal inhabitant of the human oral cavity, *S. salivarius* acts as a pioneer colonizer that helps maintain microbial homeostasis. The DB-B5 strain is specifically intended to modulate the oral microbiota, reducing the prevalence of pathogenic species associated with halitosis (bad breath), dental caries, and periodontal disease. Clinical investigations have evaluated the safety and tolerability of DB-B5 when administered as an oral powder or dissolved in water, focusing on its ability to reduce oral malodor and alter bacterial levels in saliva, plaque, and on the tongue.
