Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The Streptococcus suis vaccine is a preclinical-stage veterinary biologic being developed by The Vaccine Group (TVG), a UK-based company spun out of the University of Plymouth. The vaccine is designed to protect piglets and swine against *Streptococcus suis* infection, a zoonotic bacterial disease that can cause meningitis, arthritis, and septicemia in pigs and poses an occupational health risk to humans. A key differentiator of this vaccine candidate is its aim to provide broad-spectrum, cross-serotype protection, addressing a major limitation of existing commercial vaccines which are often serotype-specific. The development program is supported by partners including Innovate UK and an undisclosed commercial collaborator.
