Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Streptococcus Uberis Bacterin is an inactivated bacterial vaccine (bacterin) developed and manufactured by Hygieia Biological Laboratories. It is specifically designed to aid in the reduction of bovine mastitis caused by *Streptococcus uberis* in healthy adult dairy cattle and heifers. As the first USDA-licensed vaccine for this indication, it contains killed cultures of the pathogen to stimulate protective immunity. The vaccine is administered subcutaneously in a 5cc dose, typically following a three-dose initial protocol followed by boosters timed to the lactation cycle. Notably, it contains no antibiotics, which eliminates the need for a milk withdrawal period.
