Streptomyces act9 extract is a microbial natural product extract derived from a Streptomyces isolate (act9) discovered in the saline environment of Howz Soltan Lake, Iran. In preclinical research, the ethyl-acetate extract of this isolate demonstrated significant in vitro cytotoxic activity against the MDA-MB-231 human breast cancer cell line, with an IC50 value of 19.716 ± 5.72 µg/ml. The isolate was identified through 16S rRNA phylogenetic analysis as belonging to the genus Streptomyces. While the specific bioactive compounds within the extract have not been fully characterized, the isolate is part of a broader study investigating the diversity and biosynthetic potential of actinomycetes from saline environments for the development of new antimicrobial and anticancer agents.
