Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Stromal cell-derived factor 1 (SDF-1) mRNA (EVI-200) is an investigational regenerative gene therapy being developed by Evincis Bio, in collaboration with East Carolina University, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Maryland, for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED), particularly diabetic neurovascular ED. Delivered locally via intracavernosal injection using a novel PEGylated poly(disulfide amine) (PEG-PDSA) nanoparticle system, the therapy involves synthetic mRNA that encodes human SDF-1 (CXCL12). Once translated, the SDF-1 protein acts as an agonist for the CXCR4 and ACKR3 receptors, triggering endogenous tissue repair pathways, promoting neurogenesis, angiogenesis, and muscle regeneration, and ultimately restoring erectile function by addressing the underlying neurovascular damage.
