Strong Pipa Cream (also known as Qiangli Pipa Gao) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation prepared as a honey-refined semi-solid paste (electuary). It is composed of several herbal ingredients, including loquat leaf (Eriobotrya japonica), poppy shell (Papaver somniferum), Stemona root, Cynanchum stauntonii, mulberry bark (Morus alba), Platycodon root, and menthol. Strong Pipa Cream is primarily used to nourish yin, astringe the lungs, relieve cough, and eliminate phlegm. It is indicated for the treatment of coughs associated with bronchitis and acute tracheobronchitis, particularly those presenting with dryness injuring the lung. The Beijing Chinese Medicine Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University has evaluated its efficacy and safety in Phase 4 clinical trials.
