**Strongylophorine-26** is a meroditerpenoid natural product isolated from the marine sponge Petrosia corticata. It is characterized as a member of the diterpenoids, meroterpenoids, gamma-lactones, enol ethers, tertiary alcohols, and p-quinones. The compound has demonstrated antineoplastic effects, specifically inhibiting cancer cell invasion in vitro. Its architecture and configuration were confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and synthetic analog studies. This natural product is noted for its ability to suppress tumor cell migration and invasion, with the lactone moiety in its A ring being critical for biological activity. The first total synthesis and structure–activity relationship studies have been reported, but no clinical uses or pharmaceutical development are known.
