Stryka 533 (also known as Stryka-533) is an orally administered small molecule therapeutic being developed by Strykagen for the treatment of rare muscle diseases, including Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), merosin-deficient congenital muscular dystrophy type 1A (MDC1A), and limb-girdle muscular dystrophy type 2I (LGMD2I). The drug is designed to act as an integrin stimulant, specifically increasing the expression of α7β1 integrin in muscle cells. By enhancing α7β1 integrin expression, Stryka 533 aims to stabilize the myomatrix, promote muscle regeneration, and prevent muscle disease progression, serving as a surrogate for the loss of dystrophin or other structural proteins in dystrophic muscle.
