Overview
STSA-1002 is a fully humanized monoclonal antibody that targets complement component C5a. It acts as a complement C5a inhibitor, blocking the activity of this pro-inflammatory mediator and thereby reducing inflammation. The drug is being developed by Staidson Biopharmaceuticals (also known as Staidson Beijing BioPharmaceuticals) primarily for the treatment of antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Clinical trials have shown that STSA-1002 can significantly reduce disease activity in vasculitis patients compared to standard treatments. The drug has also been investigated for use in COVID-19-related indications and ARDS, but no approvals have been granted to date[1][3][4][5][8].
