Drug intelligence / Profile preview
STX-003 is a systemically delivered, self-replicating mRNA therapy encoding interleukin-12 (IL-12), developed by Strand Therapeutics for the treatment of solid tumors, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and other solid malignancies. The drug utilizes programmable mRNA genetic circuits designed to restrict IL-12 expression specifically to tumor microenvironments, thereby maximizing antitumor immune activation while minimizing off-target toxicity. This approach aims to overcome historical challenges associated with systemic cytokine therapies by ensuring that the potent immune-stimulating effects of IL-12 are localized within cancerous tissues. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that STX-003 can achieve targeted delivery and expression of IL-12 in tumors with reduced activity in healthy tissues[1][2][3][6].
