Drug intelligence / Profile preview
STX-015 is an extended-release micropellet formulation of clonidine hydrochloride, a small molecule alpha-2 adrenergic receptor (ADRA2) agonist. Developed by Sollis Therapeutics, it is designed for delivery via a single epidural injection into the lumbar space to treat pain associated with lumbosacral radiculopathy (sciatica) and radicular pain. The mechanism involves reducing neuronal firing and pain signaling while providing anti-inflammatory effects at the site of nerve injury. It was intended as a non-opioid, non-steroid alternative for sciatica, but development was discontinued following the termination of Phase 3 clinical trials.
