STX-100 is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets the integrin alphaVbeta6 (αvβ6) receptor. It was developed as an anti-fibrotic agent, exhibiting significant activity in preclinical models of kidney, lung, and liver fibrosis. The drug’s mechanism involves binding to and inhibiting the function of integrin αvβ6, which plays a key role in activating transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), a central mediator of fibrotic processes. By blocking this pathway, STX-100 aims to reduce or prevent tissue fibrosis. The drug was investigated primarily for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and chronic allograft nephropathy but development has been discontinued following terminated clinical trials[1][4][8].
