Drug intelligence / Profile preview
STX-100 + alhydrogel is an investigational recombinant virus-like particle (VLP) vaccine candidate designed for the prevention of hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) caused by Enterovirus A71 (EV-A71). Developed by Clinical Network Services (CNS) Pty Ltd, the vaccine consists of recombinant EV-A71 VLPs (STX-100) adjuvanted with aluminum hydroxide (Alhydrogel). The VLP structure mimics the natural virus to elicit a robust immune response, including the production of neutralizing antibodies, without the risk of viral replication. It is administered via intramuscular injection and has been evaluated in a first-in-human, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase 1 clinical trial to assess its safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity in healthy adults.
