Overview

SU093 is a natural product-derived small molecule inhibitor of guanylate binding protein 1 (GBP1), currently under investigation for the treatment of advanced and taxane-resistant ovarian cancer. Developed at Stanford University, SU093 functions by stabilizing GBP1 in a nonbinding conformation, which prevents its interaction with the pro-survival kinase PIM1 and blocks its nuclear translocation. This mechanism disrupts tubulin dynamics and induces G1 phase arrest and apoptosis in cancer cells. By targeting the GBP1-mediated resistance pathway, SU093 aims to restore sensitivity to chemotherapeutic agents like paclitaxel and carboplatin.
