Overview

**SU6656** is a synthetic small molecule inhibitor primarily known for its activity against Src family tyrosine kinases. It was developed as a research tool to study the role of Src kinases and related signaling pathways in cell growth and cancer biology. SU6656 inhibits several members of the Src kinase family—including c-Src—and also shows inhibitory activity against other protein kinases such as serine/threonine-protein kinase MST2. Its mechanism involves competitive inhibition at the ATP-binding site of these kinases. While it has been widely used in preclinical studies to dissect kinase signaling pathways and their roles in oncogenesis and cell cycle regulation, there is no evidence that it has advanced into clinical development or received regulatory approval for therapeutic use[1][7][9].
