Overview

Subcuvia is a human normal immunoglobulin preparation formulated for subcutaneous or intramuscular injection. It consists primarily of immunoglobulin G (IgG) derived from pooled human plasma. The main mechanism of action is passive immunity—providing exogenous IgG antibodies to supplement or replace deficient endogenous antibody production in patients with primary immunodeficiency syndromes and certain autoimmune conditions such as chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy. Subcuvia is used as replacement therapy to reduce the frequency and severity of infections in individuals with impaired antibody production[1][2][6]. It was developed by Baxter Innovations GmbH and has been marketed by Baxter AG/Baxalta UK Ltd/CSL Behring in various regions[3][5][6]. The product has been discontinued in some markets.
