Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sublivac Birch is a sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) product developed by HAL Allergy for the treatment of birch pollen-induced allergic rhinoconjunctivitis. It consists of a standardized extract of birch (*Betula verrucosa*) pollen administered as sublingual drops. The therapy is designed to modify the underlying cause of the allergy by inducing peripheral immune tolerance. Its mechanism of action involves the induction of regulatory T cells (Tregs) and the production of allergen-specific IgG4 'blocking' antibodies, which compete with IgE for allergen binding. These immunological changes lead to a reduction in Th2-mediated inflammation and a decrease in the activation of mast cells and basophils upon exposure to birch pollen, thereby providing long-term relief from hay fever symptoms and preventing the progression of allergic disease.
