Suclear

Suclear is an osmotic laxative kit developed by Braintree Laboratories (a subsidiary of Sebela Pharmaceuticals) for bowel cleansing in preparation for colonoscopy in adults. The product is supplied as a co-packaged kit containing two components: a 6-ounce bottle of oral solution consisting of sodium sulfate, potassium sulfate, and magnesium sulfate, and a 2-liter jug containing powder for oral solution consisting of polyethylene glycol 3350 (PEG-3350), sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, and potassium chloride. The mechanism of action is primarily physical; the sulfate salts and PEG-3350 are poorly absorbed and exert an osmotic effect, retaining water within the intestinal lumen. This results in a copious watery diarrhea that effectively cleanses the colon to allow for clear visualization during endoscopic procedures.
