SUCNR1 siRNA is a small interfering RNA designed to silence the expression of the succinate receptor 1 (SUCNR1), also known as GPR91. SUCNR1 is a G protein-coupled receptor that responds to succinate, a metabolic intermediate that accumulates during hypoxia and inflammation. In the context of Crohn's disease, SUCNR1 activation has been linked to intestinal inflammation, fibrosis, and the development of fistulas by promoting epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT). By knocking down SUCNR1 expression, this siRNA inhibits succinate-induced fibrotic signaling and the expression of mesenchymal markers like Vimentin and Snail, suggesting that SUCNR1 inhibition could be a therapeutic strategy for treating fistulizing Crohn's disease.
