Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sucrobid O-Emblaze is a combination oral pharmaceutical formulation marketed by Emblazon Life Sciences, containing sucralfate and oxetacaine. Sucralfate is a cytoprotective agent that reacts with gastric acid to form a cross-linked, viscous paste that selectively adheres to ulcerated mucosa, providing a physical barrier against acid, pepsin, and bile salts, thereby promoting healing. Oxetacaine (also known as oxethazaine) is a potent local anesthetic that remains effective even at the low pH levels of the stomach, providing rapid symptomatic relief from pain associated with gastric inflammation and ulceration. This combination is primarily indicated for the management of peptic ulcers, gastritis, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) where both mucosal protection and immediate pain relief are required.
