Sucrosomial iron is an innovative oral iron preparation containing ferric pyrophosphate encapsulated within a phospholipid membrane and coated with sucrose esters of fatty acids. This unique structure allows the iron to be absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract via trans-cellular, para-cellular, and M-cell pathways independently of hepcidin regulation. The formulation is gastro-resistant and designed to minimize typical side effects associated with conventional oral iron supplements such as gastric irritation and constipation.
