Sucunamostat

Sucunamostat (formerly known as TAK-792 or SCO-792) is an orally available small molecule enteropeptidase inhibitor developed by Takeda and Scohia Pharma. It is being investigated primarily for the treatment of obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and renal failure. Sucunamostat acts by inhibiting enteropeptidase in the gut, which plays a key role in protein digestion and metabolic regulation. By blocking this enzyme, sucunamostat may reduce nutrient absorption and improve metabolic parameters relevant to obesity and diabetes[1][5][6]. The drug has also been studied in early-phase trials for rare metabolic disorders such as homocystinuria, maple syrup urine disease, nephrotic syndrome, and phenylketonuria[1].
