SUDO-550 is an orally administered, brain-penetrant, allosteric tyrosine kinase 2 (TYK2) inhibitor developed by Sudo Biosciences. It demonstrates high selectivity and potency for the TYK2 pseudokinase domain, minimizing off-target effects commonly seen with catalytic kinase domain inhibitors. By selectively inhibiting TYK2, a key mediator in cytokine signaling pathways involved in immune and inflammatory responses (including IL-23, IL-12, and Type I interferons), SUDO-550 aims to treat neuroinflammatory diseases such as multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and Alzheimer's disease. The drug crosses the blood-brain barrier effectively, which is critical for targeting central nervous system inflammation. It is currently in Phase 1 clinical trials evaluating safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics including brain penetration[1][2][4][5].
