Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sufenidone (SC1011) is a novel pyridone derivative under development as an oral small molecule therapy for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). It has demonstrated antifibrotic activity in preclinical models and is being evaluated for safety and efficacy in clinical trials. Phase 1 studies have shown that both immediate-release and modified-release formulations are well tolerated in healthy subjects, with gastrointestinal reactions being the most common adverse events. The modified-release formulation offers improved tolerability compared to the immediate-release version. Sufenidone is currently being studied in Phase 3 clinical trials for IPF[1][2][3][4][6][7].
