Sufentanil + triazolam is a combination of two central nervous system depressants used in clinical settings where both potent analgesia and sedation are required, such as certain surgical or procedural contexts. Sufentanil is a synthetic opioid analgesic that acts primarily as a highly selective agonist at the μ-opioid receptor, producing profound analgesia and sedation. It is significantly more potent than fentanyl and is used to induce and maintain anesthesia, manage severe acute pain, and provide analgesia during labor[2][8]. Triazolam is a short-acting benzodiazepine indicated for the short-term treatment of insomnia; it works by enhancing the inhibitory effects of GABA at the Gamma-aminobutyric acid-A receptor (GABA-A receptor) complex, leading to sedative-hypnotic effects[1][3][6]. The combination carries significant risks due to additive CNS depression—especially respiratory depression—and should only be used when alternative treatments are inadequate under close medical supervision[5][7].
