Overview

Sugemalimab is a fully human, full-length immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4) monoclonal antibody that targets programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1). By binding to PD-L1, it blocks its interaction with the programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) receptor on T-cells, thereby reversing T-cell inactivation and enhancing cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-mediated immune responses against tumor cells. Sugemalimab also induces antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis by cross-linking PD-L1-expressing tumor cells with tumor-associated macrophages. It is developed primarily for the treatment of advanced solid tumors and lymphomas, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTL), gastric cancer, esophageal cancer, liver cancer, and Hodgkin lymphoma. The drug was discovered and developed by CStone Pharmaceuticals.
