Overview

SUL-286 is a small molecule drug candidate developed by Sulfateq for the treatment of Spinal Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). The compound is designed to address mitochondrial dysfunction, a central pathological feature in ALS and other neurodegenerative conditions. Its mechanism of action is derived from research into natural hibernation and the biological mechanisms organisms use to cope with mitochondrial stress and maintain cellular integrity during periods of metabolic depression. By targeting mitochondrial health, SUL-286 aims to protect motor neurons from degeneration. As of early 2024, the drug is in the preclinical stage of development.
