HBI-3020 is an oral, second-generation antiarrhythmic drug in development for the maintenance therapy of chronic atrial fibrillation (AF). It is a multi-ion channel blocker that inhibits several cardiac ion channels (including INa-peak, INa-late, ICa,L, and IKr/hERG) with similar potency. The active pharmaceutical ingredient is sulcardine. This mechanism aims to provide rhythm control while minimizing the risk of proarrhythmia and QT prolongation—a significant limitation of many current antiarrhythmic drugs. HBI-3020 is being developed by HUYA Bioscience International as an oral formulation following the intravenous form (HBI-3000), with a focus on safer long-term management of AF[1][2][3][4].
