Overview

Sulfaethoxypyridazine is a synthetic sulfonamide antibacterial agent primarily approved for veterinary use. It is used to treat bacterial infections in animals, such as fowl cholera and salmonella infection. As a member of the sulfonamides, it acts as a structural analogue of para‑aminobenzoic acid (PABA), competitively inhibiting the enzyme dihydropteroate synthase involved in folic acid synthesis. This inhibition disrupts bacterial DNA synthesis and exerts bacteriostatic effects. Sulfaethoxypyridazine is not typically used in humans and is mainly administered to domestic animals and birds[1][2][3][4][6].
