A combination therapy of sulfasalazine and thalidomide that has been studied experimentally for inflammatory bowel disease. The combination showed additive effects in restoring lipid peroxidation and reducing myeloperoxidase and TNF-α levels toward normal in experimental models. This combination has also been considered for management of conditions like ankylosing spondylitis as an alternative to TNF inhibitors.
