Sulfocamphocaine is an approved combination small molecule drug consisting of sulfocamphoric acid and procaine. It is primarily utilized as an analeptic and cardiovascular stimulant in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The drug works by stimulating the respiratory and vasomotor centers in the medulla oblongata, which enhances pulmonary ventilation and increases peripheral vascular tone. It also has a direct positive effect on the myocardium, improving metabolic processes and increasing sensitivity to sympathetic impulses. Sulfocamphocaine is indicated for the treatment of acute and chronic heart failure, cardiogenic and septic shock, and respiratory depression. It is typically administered via subcutaneous, intramuscular, or intravenous injection as a 10% solution.
