Suloctidil is a sulfur-containing aminoalcohol and a small molecule vasodilator that was introduced in the early 1970s by Continental Pharma, a Belgian company. It acts as a peripheral vasodilator and calcium antagonist, exhibiting vascular antispasmodic activity. Suloctidil also inhibits platelet aggregation by mechanisms distinct from non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and stimulates the release of prostacyclin (PGI2) from vascular endothelium, which may contribute to its antiplatelet and antithrombotic effects. The drug was used for peripheral and cerebral vascular disorders, including secondary prevention after thromboembolic stroke, dementia, and thrombotic disorders. However, it was withdrawn worldwide in 1985 due to reports of hepatotoxicity[1][3][4][5][6][8].
