Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Suluotong (STW-002) is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody developed by Suzhou Stainwei Biotechnology for the treatment of ophthalmic diseases, primarily neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD). The drug acts as an antagonist of vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), a key protein that promotes the growth of abnormal, leaky blood vessels in the retina. By binding to and neutralizing VEGF-A, Suluotong inhibits angiogenesis and reduces macular edema, thereby preventing vision loss and potentially improving visual acuity in patients. It is administered via intravitreal injection and is currently in clinical development for nAMD and other retinal vascular disorders such as diabetic macular edema.
