SUM-102 (also known as Ad6-MSP-1) is an adenovirus serotype 6 (Ad6) vector-based vaccine candidate developed by Sumaya Biotech for the prevention of malaria caused by *Plasmodium falciparum*. The vaccine utilizes a non-replicating adenovirus vector to deliver the genetic sequence for the full-length Merozoite Surface Protein 1 (MSP1), a major antigen found on the surface of the malaria parasite during its blood stage. SUM-102 is designed to induce both cellular and humoral immune responses against the liver and blood stages of the parasite. It is primarily intended for use in a heterologous prime-boost vaccination regimen alongside SUM-101 (a recombinant protein subunit vaccine), specifically targeting travelers to malaria-endemic regions in Africa.
