Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Summergrass, also known as Prunella vulgaris or Xia Ku Cao (夏枯草), is an herb widely utilized in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It is recognized for its cooling properties and is traditionally employed to clear liver heat, disperse nodules, improve vision, and reduce inflammation. The herb contains various active chemical components, including polysaccharides, organic acids (such as rosmarinic acid), flavonoids, and triterpenoids, which are believed to contribute to its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antioxidant, and immunoregulatory effects. It has been traditionally used for a range of conditions, including dizziness, red eyes, dry cough, dermatitis, boils, liver disorders, hypertension, infections, thyroid swellings, breast lumps, and mastitis.
