Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SunButyrate-TG is a unique butyrate-rich triglyceride oil supplement designed to promote gut health. It's formulated to protect butyrate from degradation in the stomach, allowing for optimal delivery to the intestine where it can support gut barrier integrity, intestinal health, and bowel function. The product delivers 875 mg of butyric acid per serving and comes in a highly-palatable liquid form with a blueberry-vanilla flavor. It's manufactured by Pure Encapsulations and is marketed as a dietary supplement to support digestive health. Clinical evidence suggests that butyrate supplementation can help with gastrointestinal motility, abdominal comfort, and bloating. In a 30-day trial with 50 individuals, 1g of butyrate daily enhanced gut health and reduced bloating and cramps in 68% of participants. Butyrate is naturally produced by anaerobic bacterial fermentation of fiber in the colon and serves as an energy source for epithelial cells. It supports intestinal barrier function, bowel motility, nutrient absorption, and immune activity of intestinal cells. Research also indicates that butyrate may help moderate inflammation and support healthy cytokine balance in the gastrointestinal tract. The SunButyrate formulation is designed to overcome the poor palatability and rapid degradation issues of traditional oral butyrate salts. Studies in simulated gastrointestinal models show only 6-8% breakdown in the stomach compared to 70% for other forms. The recommended dosage is 1 teaspoon (5ml), 1-3 times daily with meals. Each container provides 56 servings.
